Adult stem cells cure Dallas boy of sickle cell anemia
The adult stem cells taken from his little brother’s umbilical cord saved Joseph Davis Jr.’s life.

The Davis family testified in front of the Texas legislature in 2008, advocating House Bill 709, which required that a brochure be provided to pregnant women with educational information concerning the collection, donation, processing and storage of umbilical cord blood – a rich source of adult stem cells. The bill passed and is now a state law in Texas.
